Wedding, job interview, christening or an important presentation: on days like these everything should be just right. The most common mistake is not the wrong cut but the wrong timing. With this timeline you will arrive relaxed and freshly cut for your big day.

Why not the day before?

A fresh cut needs a few days to settle. Right after the appointment the lines look very sharp, the skin on the sides can be slightly red with a short fade, and the hair falls more naturally after a few days. That is why an appointment a few days before is usually better than the night before.

The wedding timeline

  1. Four to six weeks before: want to try something new, such as a different fade or a new beard shape? Do it now. That leaves time to go back to what works if you prefer. Feel free to bring photos of the suit or the style of the wedding.
  2. Two to three weeks before: book online the appointment for the actual cut. Saturdays are popular, so plan early.
  3. Three to five days before for short fades: the blend is still fresh but looks natural.
  4. Five to seven days before for longer cuts: a side part, a mullet or more length on top falls best after about a week.
  5. One to two days before for the beard: lines and length, so everything is razor-sharp on the day.

The job interview timeline

For an interview the rule is: well groomed, but not straight out of the chair. Ideally get your cut three to seven days before, depending on length. A look that suits you and the industry matters more than a trend. Clean lines at the neck and around the ears make the biggest difference, because that is exactly where people look during a conversation.

Shave: better the day before

A wet shave on the morning of the big day sounds good, but on sensitive skin it can cause redness. The safer option is the hot towel shave the day before. Your skin has time to calm down and still feels smooth. If you are keeping your beard, get it in shape with the beard trim. More tips on care between appointments are in our article on beard care by Lake Biel.

The right package for the big day

  • GYAN Premium package: haircut, beard, wash and styling. CHF 75, walk-in CHF 70.
  • GYAN Full Service: haircut, beard, Face Treatment, wash and styling. CHF 90, walk-in CHF 85.
  • GYAN Face Treatment: hot towel, cleansing and care, also on its own for CHF 25, ideal a few days before the event.
  • GYAN Signature Cut: haircut with individual styling and tips on how to restyle it yourself on the day. CHF 45.

On the day

  • Wash your hair in the morning and blow-dry gently so the styling holds.
  • Use little product: better a small amount you can top up if needed.
  • Slip some tissues and a comb into your pocket in case wind or rain gets involved.
