Barber near Port
Port, home of the weir on the Nidau-Büren canal, is about four kilometres from GYAN. By bus, bike or car you're in Biel in no time.
Port and the weir on the canal
Port lies on the south bank of the Nidau-Büren canal, just past Nidau. It's best known for the Port regulating weir, which controls the outflow from Lake Biel and so keeps the lake level in check. The weir is part of the Jura water correction that reshaped the whole Seeland region. Around the canal Port is quiet and green, a place to live close to the water and only a few kilometres from Biel.
No station, but buses and bikes
Port doesn't have a railway station, but that doesn't make getting into town any harder. The bus takes you to Biel station, and from there it's only a few minutes' walk to GYAN at Zentralstrasse 22. By bike you ride through Nidau towards Biel, flat and relaxed. Driving also takes you via Nidau into central Biel, where public parking is available. For the roughly four kilometres, allow about ten minutes.
Fade or Signature Cut
A fade lives or dies by its blend. For a men's haircut we first check how your hair grows and where the crowns sit, then decide where the clippers work and where the scissors take over. Low fade, skin fade or a classic side part, the aim is a cut that still holds its shape three weeks later. It takes about 20 minutes.
If you want to know how to recreate the look yourself, go for the GYAN Signature Cut. We style your hair and show you which product to use, how much and which moves. And if your face needs a break after a long week, there's the GYAN Face Treatment with hot towel, cleansing and care.
Saturday morning, before the weekend kicks off
On Saturdays we open at 8:30am. Leave Port early and your haircut is done before the day really starts, with plenty of time left for a walk by the canal back home. During the week we're open Monday to Wednesday 9am to 7pm and Thursday and Friday until 8pm. Sundays we're closed.
Saturdays are worth booking online, with instant confirmation. Walk-ins are still welcome during opening hours. In the salon you sit in a brown leather chair in front of a red Persian carpet on the wall. Pay in cash, by card or with TWINT. Living closer to town? Check out our page for Nidau.
