Fade haircut in Biel – clean transitions down to the skin
A fade lives or dies by its blend. At GYAN in Biel we work millimetre by millimetre until there's no visible line – whether skin, low, mid or high fade.
Which fade suits you?
Not all fades are the same. A low fade starts just above the ear and stays subtle – ideal for the office. A mid fade starts a little higher and emphasises the outline, while a high fade takes the short zone far up for strong contrast. With a skin fade, the hair tapers all the way down to the skin. The right version depends on your head shape, your growth pattern and the look you're after. We'll advise you before the first cut.
Craft, not clippers on autopilot
A clean fade isn't made with a single guard. We work with several lengths, lever technique and scissor work to blend step by step, plus sharp lines at the neck and temples. The top is cut to match – short and textured, or longer for a bold contrast. Want to include your beard? Choose haircut and beard and the fade flows seamlessly into it – more on our beard barber page.
How long does a fade last?
Honestly: a skin fade looks its best in the first two weeks. After that, the shortest zone visibly grows back. That's why many of our clients come every two to three weeks. With online booking you can plan your next appointment in advance – confirmation comes instantly.
A few simple habits keep your fade looking good between visits. Don't wash the top every day with a harsh shampoo, or it'll dry out and be harder to style. For a natural matte look, a small amount of paste or clay worked in with your fingers is usually enough. If you want more hold and shine, go for pomade. Important: don't try to redo the neckline yourself with a razor – a line set too high can't be undone and changes the whole blend. Your scalp deserves attention too: with a skin fade it's exposed, so in summer a cap or a little sunscreen helps prevent sunburn. When you notice the blend at the sides getting softer and the line starting to blur, it's time for your next appointment. For most clients, that's after two to three weeks.
Your fade specialist in the centre of Biel
GYAN is at Zentralstrasse 22, a few minutes' walk from Biel station. Our clients come from all over the city – Mett, Madretsch, Bözingen or Vingelz – and from neighbouring towns like Nidau, Port and Studen. There is public parking in the city centre.
Appointments are booked online. Without an appointment you can walk in during opening hours, and Zana and the team serve walk-in clients too. While you wait, leaf through an art book in the lounge – beneath the red Persian carpet on the wall. General info about the salon is on our hairdresser in Biel page.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a skin fade and a regular fade?
With a skin fade the hair tapers right down to the skin. With a regular fade even the shortest zone keeps a few millimetres of length.
How often should I get my fade touched up?
To keep it sharp, many clients come every two to three weeks. A low fade with a bit more length can often go four weeks.
Can I walk in for a fade?
Yes, during opening hours Zana and the team serve walk-in clients. For a fixed slot with no waiting, book online – it's confirmed instantly.
Does a fade work with every hair type?
Almost always – straight, wavy or curly. With very fine or light hair we choose the height and length carefully so the blend looks clean.
