Magglingen: the sports plateau high above the lake

Magglingen, Macolin in French, sits on a terrace on the Jura slope well above Evilard and is part of the municipality of Evilard. It's known across Switzerland as a hub of sport, being home to the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport. Around it you'll find forest, meadows and hiking trails, and from the terrace the view stretches over Biel and the lake to the Alps. If you live, study or train up here, life is quiet, yet the city is only a short trip away.

Down the hill on the Magglingen funicular

The funicular between Biel and Magglingen is one of the oldest in the region and climbs the steep slope in a few minutes. Down in Biel, carry on on foot or by bus to the station. From there Zentralstrasse 22 is a few minutes' walk. No car and no parking space needed in town. If you like being on foot, on a nice day you can also hike down to Biel on one of the forest paths and ride the funicular back up after your appointment.

By car, drive down the slope via Evilard into central Biel. Plan around a quarter of an hour for the roughly eight kilometres. For parking, there are public car parks and public spaces in the city centre.

From training session to barber chair

When you do a lot of sport, you want a cut that looks right under a beanie, after a shower and after a run in the woods. A short, cleanly outlined men's haircut takes about 20 minutes here. After a long day outdoors, the GYAN Face Treatment does your skin good: hot towel, cleansing and care in about 20 minutes.

If you've got more time, the GYAN Premium package combines haircut, beard, wash and styling in around 40 minutes. A good fit for a rest day, or for Saturday, when we open at 8:30.
